In a new weekly series exclusive to my blog called ‘Loan Watch’, I’ll be reviewing the performances of all our Academy players for that week, if you missed the previous episode of Loan Watch then be sure to read it by clicking here. The aim of this series is to keep Liverpool fans interested in the players who are not at the club at this current time, but still are in the clubs’ records.
Liverpool Under 21 winger Suso continued his impressive start at Almeria, despite his side’s 4-2 defeat at 2nd placed Athletico Madrid. Suso has been involved in many goals in his short career with the newly promoted La Liga side, and this impressive stat continued as he was involved in Almeria’s first goal, scored by Rodri. The one negative is that Suso consistently gets booked, and he picked up his 3rd caution of the season. The Spain Under 20 international is expected to start in Almeria’s next game at home to Levante on Saturday 21st September.
Former Under 21 captain Conor Coady was consistently starting Sheffield United’s League One games in the first few weeks of the season, but started as a substitute in their 1-0 defeat at Carlisle. In fact, the Liverpudlian did not play any part in the game, but is likely to be in the squad for Sheffield United’s next game against high flying Preston.
Like Coady, Ngoo has been another regular player who has featured at his loan club, which is Yeovil Town, although he has started only once. However, he did not play any part in his side’s 1-1 draw away to Sheffield Wednesday and was therefore an unused substitute for this fixture. Despite this, he will more than likely be in the squad for Yeovil’s next fixture against QPR next Saturday.
Jack Robinson has started life at top of the table Blackpool very well, helping his new side concede only twice in their opening five games. Robinson had a poor game away to Bournemouth this week even though Paul Ince’s side won 2-1. Robinson received two yellow cards and was sent off after fouling Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser. He will miss Blackpool’s next game against Leicester but is expected to return to Blackpool’s side on Saturday 29th September.
Liverpool Under 21 striker Henoc Mukendi has found life very hard at Partick Thistle, regularly being left out of their match day squad, and this was no different for their game against Aberdeen, in which Thistle lost 3-0. Mukendi is unfortunately expected to be left out of the match day squad for Partick’s next fixture as well, and it will be better for Mukendi if he does return to Liverpool.
Under 21 playmaker Joao Teixeira has been recently loaned out to League One side Brentford for 6 months. Unfortunately, Teixeira was a 90th minute substitute for the Bees in their 4-3 win away at Tranmere and is it interesting to see whether Teixeira will play a bigger part in Brentford’s next game against Brentford next Monday.
