In a new weekly series exclusive to my blog called ‘Loan Watch’, I’ll be reviewing the performances of all our Academy players for that week, if you missed the previous episode of Loan Watch then be sure to read it by clicking here. The aim of this series is to keep Liverpool fans interested in the players who are not at the club at this current time, but still are in the clubs’ records.
Under 21 winger Suso was again in fine form for La Liga side Almeria, this time against Catalan giants Barcelona, proving that he can play well against the very best players in the world. Although his side lost 2-0 on the day, there was something for Suso to be proud of as he put in a very good performance. Suso is expected to start in Almeria’s next game against Sevilla on Sunday, where his side will be looking to pick up points and get out of the relegation zone.
Former Under 21 captain Conor Coady was completely left out of the match day squad for Sheffield United’s 2-0 defeat to Wolves on Saturday and it is now unclear whether Coady will play any part in the Blades next game against Crawley, as they lie at the foot of the League One table. So, with 3 months left on his deal, can he make an impact in Sheffield before returning to Merseyside?
Under 21 playmaker Joao Teixeira was recently loaned out to League One side Brentford, and has made frequent substitute appearances for the Bees but was an unused substitute in their 2-0 victory against Coventry. It is likely that Teixeira will play a part in Brentford’s next game at home to Rotherham United.
Liverpool Under 21 striker Michael Ngoo was an unused substitute for his loan side Yeovil in their 1-1 draw away to Bolton. Ngoo did have another chance to play a part for Yeovil as they played on Tuesday night, but the forward was left out of the matchday squad in their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City. It is very unlikely that Ngoo will feature in their next game away to Middlesborough.
Under 21 left back Jack Robinson returned from his ban when Blackpool faced Huddersfield on Friday night, a result that ended 1-1. Robinson played the full 90 minutes but was booked as the points were shared. Like Ngoo, Robinson had the chance to feature again on Tuesday night and did play the full 90 minutes as his side drew 0-0 against Bolton Wanderers .
