Hello and Welcome to Kirkby Revisited, a show where I review all the latest news from Liverpool’s Academy from the past. Some articles may be long, some articles may be short, it all depends on what has happened in that week!

Academy sack Borrell and McParland

Shock news emerged last week that Liverpool have parted ways with Academy directors Frank McParland and Rodolfo Borrell. The two figures, who are the last representations of Rafael Benitez’s reign were dismissed with immediate effect and the club refused to comment on why. Rumour has it that the two were in negotiations to join Premier League rivals Manchester City and hence going against company policy. Swansea academy chief Tony Pennock is favourite to replace the pair as he left Swansea by mutual consent.Under 18s beat Wolves

Liverpool Under 18s continued their impressive unbeaten against a Wolves side on Saturday 23rd November. Neil Critchley’s men won 2-0 with goals from Sergi Canos and Alex O’Hanlon. Canos scored his first goal for the club in that match. The win now means that Neil Critchley’s side are now 7 games unbeaten in all competitions. Pedro Chirivella started on the bench.Unbeaten runs ends for Under 18s

After their 2 goal victory over Wolves last Saturday, Neil Critchley’s Under 18s suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Everton. The only positive for the Under 18s was that Jerome Sinclair scored for the Reds, after defensive errors cost the Reds. More bad news for Liverpool came as Pedro Chirivella was badly challenged by an Everton player and was unable to play.

LFC XI: Firth, Randall, Maguire, Cleary, Brewitt, Chirivella, Wilson, Phillips, Sinclair, Ojo, Kent.

Under 21s beat PSV

During their break of games, Liverpool Under 21s, led by Steve Mcmanaman faced a tough PSV Under 21 side and came out 3-1 winners. Swedish winger Kris Peterson, who netted his 5th goal in non-league games this season was one of the scorers whilst the other two goals came from Cameron Brannagan and Jordan Rossiter.

Trio leave in loan deals

As the loan deadline day came to a close, 3 of Liverpool’s youngsters were sent out on loan to lower league clubs to gain experience. Firstly, Craig Roddan was loaned out to League One side Carlisle for a month, with an option to a permanent move in January. The next player to leave Melwood was Adam Morgan. The 19 year old forward left the Reds to join Championship strugglers Yeovil, again on a month loan with an option to a permanent move in January. It will be interesting to see if Morgan is more successful than fellow Under 21 forward Michael Ngoo, who’s loan spell was cut short last month. Finally, the third player to get loaned out was Kris Peterson, who joins League One side Tranmere for 6 months.

Under 18s draw 6 goal thriller

In their 3rd game in a week, Liverpool Under 18s drew 3-3 with Newcastle yesterday. Ryan Kent, Jerome Sinclair and Harry Wilson scored the goals for Neil Critchley’s side as they looked to bounce back after their Merseyside derby defeat to Everton.
