Oussama Assaidi came on as an 82nd minute substitute for Stoke City as they beat Newcastle 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium and in doing so, scored their first home goal of the season. The Moroccan winger had a shot on goal, but it was blocked by the Newcastle defence. Assaidi’s Stoke next travel to Sunderland, where he could come up against team-mate Sebastien Coates, if he plays. Elsewhere, Andre Wisdom played the full 90 minutes for West Bromwich Albion as they made it three wins in a row following their 4-0 triumph over Burnley at the Hawthorns. Wisdom started at right-back but then moved to left-back for the closing stages of the game after Cristian Gamboa replaced Sebastien Pocognoli. Wisdom is unavailable for West Brom’s next game as it is against parent club Liverpool, meaning Alan Irvine is left short of options in the full back areas, especially with Pocognoli’s injury. He should be available for selection after the international break when West Brom host a rebuilding Man United on Monday 20th October. The final Liverpool loanee in the Premier League is indeed Sebastien Coates, but the Uruguayan was not in the squad for their goalless draw with Swansea.

In the Championship, Jordon Ibe played 76 minutes for Derby County in their 2-0 win away at Bolton. Ibe created three chances in the game and was unlucky not to score. He also started in Derby’s 2-0 win against Bournemouth yesterday. This time, the England Under 19 International had two shots blocked before being replaced by Johnny Russell. Ibe will be looking to add to his run of performances for the Rams when they host Milwall on Saturday. Joao Carlos Teixeira was an unused substitute for Brighton as they picked up an impressive point away early pacesetters Nottingham Forest, but returned to the starting line-up and played 80 minutes for Sami Hyypia’s side in their 1-1 draw at home to manager-less Cardiff. The Portuguese youth international played well and created four chances for his team-mates. He will be hoping to build on this performance and improve when Brighton travel to Watford next weekend.

In League One, Brad Smith didn’t feature for his loan side Swindon Town as he was injured, but his side did win comfortably away at Barnsley. From League One to Ligue 1 and Divock Origi scored his third goal in six games as his 39th minute winner was enough for Lille to beat SC Bastia on Saturday. The 19-year-old will be looking to add to his goal tally when Lille travel to Lyon. Taigo Ilori played the full 90 minutes for Bordeaux as they narrowly beat Rennes 2-1. It has been a good week for Ilori, who scored his first Bordeaux goal in their 1-1 draw at Saint-Etienne on Thursday.  Ilori should feature for Bordeaux on Friday night when they travel to Reims.

Elsewhere in Europe, Iago Aspas was an unused substitute for Sevilla as they were blown away by Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon as they lost 4-0. Aspas may finally get some game time for Sevilla on Sunday when they host Deportivo de La Coruna. Also in La Liga, Luis Alberto played 72 minutes for Malaga in their 1-0 defeat away at Getafe, but the young playmaker did have an attempt on goal which was blocked by the Getafe defence. Malaga next host Granada where Luis Alberto is likely to start again. Finally, Rafa Paez did not feature for Bologna is Serie ‘B’ due to an injury.
