Andre Wisdom was the only Liverpool loanee to play for the full 90 minutes at the weekend. He joined Divock Origi as the only players to start for their respective clubs, as the latter came off after 72 minutes for his loan side Lille. Jordon Ibe and Luis Alberto both came on a late substitutes for their sides, playing a combined 27 minutes. The other six loanees did not feature this weekend. Out of those six, two were out with thigh injuries and the remaining four were just not selected. Concerning for Brendan Rodgers, who already has enough pressure on him.
Sebastien Coates was again absent for his loan side Sunderland with a thigh injury. The good news for the Uruguayan is that he is expecetd to return after the international break for Gus Poyet’s side. Another Liverpool loanee joining Coates on the sidelines was Oussama Assaidi. The Stoke City winger was not in Mark Hughes’ matchday squad in their win over Tottenham yesterday. Reports emerged that this was Hughes’ decision to leave him out of the squad. Finan the Premier League, Andre Wisdom played the full 90 minutes for West Bromwich Albion as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to in-form Newcastle United. Wisdom had a great chance to pull one back for the Baggies, but his left-footed shot from inisde the area went high and wide of Tim Krul’s goal.
In the Championship, Jordon Ibe came on as a 75th minute substitute in Derby’s 5-0 thrashing against Wolves. The winger replaced Simon Dawkins and did have a chance to make it 6-0, but his late effort, like Wisdom’s, went high and wide of the opposition’s ‘keeper’s goal. Joao Teixeira was an unused substitute for Brighton & Hove Albion as they picked up yet another draw at home to Blackburn. This was Sami Hyypia’s side’s eighth draw of the campaign which leaves them in a precarious position near the bottom of the Championship.
In Ligue 1 and Tiago Ilori remained absent for Bordeaux with his thigh injury as his loan side picked up yet another win, this time away at Lens. Divock Origi started for Lille and played 72 minutes, but he couldn’t help his side as they picked up another defeat as the pressure heats up on manager Rene Girard. Reports suggested that he didn’t have the best game in the 2-0 defeat to Reims.
Staying in Europe, but this time in La Liga and Iago Aspas was not involved for Sevilla in their 1-1 draw at home to Levante. However, Luis Alberto returned to the Malaga squad after a four game absence and came on as a 78th minute substitute in their 2-1 win over Eibar. The Spaniard had no significant impact in his short time on the pitch after replacing Juanmi.
Finally, in Serie ‘B’, Rafa Paez was absent from the Bologna squad as they drew 0-0 at home to Capri to round off a miserable weekend for Liverpool’s loanees.
