Emmanuel Oti Essigba was one of three known trialists in Liverpool Under 21s recent 2-0 victory against Birmingham City. The other trialists were Vancouver Whitecaps pair Christian Dean and Sam Adekugbe. Today’s article will focus on Ghanaian Essigba, who along with Jack Dunn, scored in the victory.

Essigba, 18, is a midfielder that plays at a more wider position. He currently plays for Belgian side Club Brugge after moving from Eredivisie side Feyenoord. Though he never featured for the Dutch side, he was nurtured at the Gomoah Fetteh Feyenoord Academy in his native Ghana. This is where his talents where recognised as he was voted the best player in the Academy in 2013.

The winger was always set to go to Belgium as Essigba had trials at fellow Belgian side Anderlecht but were unsuccessful.

He plays for Ghana Under 17s and featured at the 2013 African Junior Championships in Morocco. The winger has been in the goals for his country, memorably scoring a hat-trick in a 6-2 victory over Novara Under 20 in April 2013, before the tournament.
