Danny Ward has signed for League Two side Morecambe on a month’s loan. The Liverpool goalkeeper, 21, will look to gain more experience in a first-team environment. Ward has featured on the bench for the Reds 19 times this season, and moves to Morecambe in his first loan move at the club. Ward joined Liverpool from Wrexham in January 2012. He also has international experience, featuring for Wales Under-21s on a regular basis, and is in their squad for their upcoming UEFA Under-21 qualifier. Ward has been on the bench for the national side, featuring in place of Wayne Hennessey.

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley is excited to link up with the Liverpool goalkeeper, because of the potential that he has. He told Morecambe’s official website that: “Danny is a highly regarded young goalkeeper and we look forward to working with him over the next few weeks.”

Due to the fact that regular goalkeeper Andreas Arestidou is out through suspension, Ward is expected to make his debut against Carlisle on Saturday. The Wales international will wear the number 28 shirt.
