Sheyi Ojo came on as a 67th minute substitute in Wigan’s 1-1 draw against Bolton at the DW Stadium. Ojo forced a good save out of Bolton goalkeeper Ben Amos in the 87th minute, and created a chance for Gaëtan Bong in the 75th minute, but his shot was high and wide. Wigan team-mate Jerome Sinclair was not in the match-day squad for the game, after signing on-loan last week.
Joao Teixeira continued his fine run of form for Brighton as they beat play-off hopefuls Blackburn 1-0 at Ewood Park. Teixeira played 88 minutes before he was replaced by Jake Forster-Caskey, but he had already made his impact on the game. In the game, he had three attempts on goal, one of which almost went in from 30 yards out. The Portugal Under-21 international also created two chances for his team-mates as he looks to have settled on the South Coast.
Danny Ward made his first start since joining Morecambe on a month’s loan, and played 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw at Carlisle United. The Wales Under-21 goalkeeper couldn’t prevent a clean sheet, but will have taken confidence that his debut was not a defeat. Staying in League Two, and Lloyd Jones played 87 minutes for loan side Accrington Stanley, as they drew 2-2 with York City. Jones was replaced by Shay McCartan and would’ve been disappointed that he didn’t help his side keep a clean sheet.
In Europe, and Eibar have failed with their bid to FIFA to play defender Rafa Paez. The Spaniard is currently training with the first-team, but will be unavailable for selection for the rest of the La Liga season. Tiago Ilori played 90 minutes for his loan side Bordeaux, but couldn’t prevent his side falling to a 2-1 defeat at Toulouse. A week after scoring a hat-trick against Rennes, Divock Origi only played 68 minutes for Lille before he was replaced by Kevin Koubemba, back to reality some will suggest.
