Jordan Williams is reportedly set to join League One side Swindon Town on a season long-loan. Williams was a major part of the Reds’ U21 setup last season. The youngster made his first team debut in September 2014 in Liverpool’s Capital One Cup victory over Middlesbrough.
It is understood that with the arrival of Joe Gomez, Williams is getting sent out on loan to the League One to get further experience. It will be Williams’ second loan spell in League One after he spent time with the relegated Notts County at the end of last season.
Williams is the third Liverpool youngster to be linked with a move to the County Ground, after Ryan Kent and Kevin Stewart were linked with a move last month. It is understood that all three are in fact set to complete their season long loan moves in the next 48 hours. For more information on both Kent and Stewart, read my story that I run on 25 June:
In other news, Brad Smith has been linked with a move to Championship side Ipswich Town. Smith, 21, found game time hard to come by last season after returning from a loan spell with Swindon, where he made 10 appearances.
Mick McCarthy’s side finished in the play-offs last season and will be looking to build on their strong finish. They are also looking to replace their former left-back Tyrone Mings, who completed an £8m move to Premier League newboys Bournemouth last month. It is understood that any move for the left back will be a free transfer because the Reds have not offered Smith a new contract.
In other news, it is reported that Burnley want Liverpool starlet Jerome Sinclair on loan. The two sides are still in talks over a tribunal fee for Danny Ings, who moved to Liverpool from Burnley last month. Sean Dyche’s side is understood to want money plus a player on loan and Sinclair is the man being targetted, to replace Ings.
Also, Harry Wilson is reportedly a target for Championship side Leeds United. More updates as I when I get it.
