Sergi Canos has extended his loan spell with Championship side Brentford until the end of the season. The winger, 18, has made 16 appearances for Dean Smith’s side, and since Smith’s appointment, he has established himself in the Brentford side. The Liverpool U21 youngster was originally meant to be on loan until January, and the extension will be confirmed on 1 January 2016 when the transfer window opens.
Speaking to the official Brentford website, head coach Smith is delighted with Canos and has praised his style of play and his attitude since his arrival in August. He told http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk: “He has impressed me so far. He wants to learn and he wants to get better. He gives us something that we haven’t really got here in terms of his direct running and enthusiasm and he is enjoying himself here. It is encouraging to have a player like Sergi here for the rest of the season.”
Canos moved to England in 2013, when he joined Liverpool from Barcelona. At the end of the 2014/15 season, the Spaniard signed his first professional contract with Liverpool and currently plays for the Reds U21 side, where he has scored two goals in all competitions so far this season. He took to Twitter to express his delight at extending his loan spell.
