Mario Balotelli was again in the headlines for AC Milan this week, but the Liverpool loanee earned praise after his goal in their win over Alessandria. There were also win for Lawrence Vigouroux, Ryan Fulton and Marko Grujic. Taiwo Awoniyi got a rare start for FSV Frankfurt as they picked up a draw. However, Sergi Canos and Allan, on loan at Brentford and Sint-Truiden suffered defeats. Samed Yesil and Luis Alberto were both left out of their respective squads whilst Lazar Markovic remained sidelined. Here’s this week’s loan watch:

Mario Balotelli scored his second consecutive Coppa Italia goal as AC Milan beat third division side Alessandria 5-0. The striker is still looking to cement his place in the Milan side in Serie ‘A’. The Italian replaced Carlos Bacca in the 90th minute in their 1-0 win over Torino at the San Siro. Milan will host Juventus in the final, but before that, sixth-placed Milan travel to seventh-placed Sassuolo and a win can take them above rivals Inter, should results go their way.

Lawrence Vigouroux kept his fifth clean sheet of the season as Swindon Town beat relegation-threatened Doncaster Rovers 2-0 on Tuesday night. Before that, he featured for the Robins in their 2-1 win at Peterborough United. Swindon sit in 11th place in League One and host play-off contenders Millwall on Saturday.

Samed Yesil was left out of the FC Luzern squad as they suffered their tenth defeat of the season, losing 3-1 at FC Sion. Yesil has scored just once in 11 appearances this season, and will be looking to get back into the squad when Luzern travel to Young Boys on Sunday.

Taiwo Awoniyi again started for FSV Frankfurt, but featured for 82 minutes as they drew 3-3 with MSV Duisburg. However, he failed to make an impact as he didn’t grab a goal. The Nigerian will be hoping to get another start when the Bundesliga 2 side travel to Union Berlin on Saturday.

Sergi Canos played 82 minutes for 14th placed Brentford as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at Rotherham on Saturday. The Spain U19 youth international set up Alan Judge in the 65th minute, but he fired over. Dean Smith’s side host bottom-side Charlton at Griffin Park, and Canos will be hoping to play his first 90 minutes in the Championship.

Luis Alberto was part of a Deportivo La Coruna side that suffered back-to-back defeats this week, despite only featuring in one game. The attacking midfielder, could only manage two shots in their 1-0 defeat to home to Granada, where he featured for the duration. He was then left out of the squad for their 4-1 thrashing at Athletic Bilbao. Deportivo, currently 12th in La Liga, host 11th placed Malaga on Saturday evening, with Alberto looking to get back into Victor Sanchez’s plans.

Ryan Fulton was part of a Portsmouth side that remained unbeaten this week as they bid to gain League One promotion. The Scotland U21 goalkeeper, played in Pompey’s 1-1 draw at Exeter on Tuesday night after playing the duration in their 2-1 win at home to Cambridge United on Saturday. Paul Cook’s side travel to 20th placed Stevenage on Saturday, and a win could see Portsmouth move up to fourth.

Marko Grujic returned to the Red Star Belgrade line-up in their 2-1 victory over Partizan Belgrade on Saturday. His side return to Serbian Premier League action this Saturday when they host Jagodina with Grujic looking to add to his five league goals.

Allan came on as a second half substitute for Belgian side Sint-Truiden as the strugglers suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Zulte Waregam. The Brazilian midfielder was called up to the U20s squad this week, but was left out of their squad for their 3-0 defeat at Kortrijk. It doesn’t get any easier for 13th placed Sint-Truiden when they travel to table-toppers Club Brugge KV.

Lazar Markovic remained on the sidelines for Fenerbahce’s 2-0 win over Besiktas. He will be hoping to be fit in for their Turkish Cup quarter-final at home to Amedspor.
