Liverpool’s Academy had a quiet week due to the international break, with several youngsters on International duty. However, there were updates from all the stars out on loan, including goals for Taiwo Awoniyi and Luis Alberto. There was also a heavy 5-0 defeat for the U21s and there was interest in a Stade Brestois 29 defensive midfielder. Here’s the full round-up:

Liverpool ‘Scouting’ Stade Brestois 29 Midifielder Ibrahima Sissoko.

Ibrahima Sissoko has reportedly been scouted by Premier League side Liverpool as Jurgen Klopps starts to plan his squad overhaul in the summer. The defensive midfielder, 18, has broken through to the first team at Ligue 2 side Stade Brestois after signing a professional contract last season. The French youth international has impressed in the Coupe de France this season, which has sparked interest from Liverpool amongst other clubs.

Luis Alberto and Taiwo Awoniyi were both on the scoresheet in a mixed week for the Liverpool players out on loan. Marko Grujic and Allan were on international duty, whilst Lazar Markovic and Lawrence Vigouroux were frustrated by injury. Samed Yesil remained out of the FC Luzern squad, whilst Sergi Canos, Mario Balotelli and Ryan Fulton all got some valuable game time.

Liverpool U21s Thrashed 5-0 By Southampton As Jay Rodriguez Scores Hat-Trick

Jay Rodriguez scored a hat-trick as Liverpool U21s suffered a 5-0 defeat at home to Southampton on Sunday afternoon. Jake Hesketh opened the scoring for the visitors in the fourth minute before Rodriguez doubled their lead shortly before half-time. Josh Sims put Southampton 3-0 up early in the second half, before Rodriguez bagged another two goals to complete his hat-trick and end a miserable afternoon for Michael Beale’s side.
