Abdallah Aberkane is reportedly being targeted by Premier League side Liverpool, as Jurgen Klopp starts preparing for his first summer in charge of the Reds.
Scouts from the Merseyside club have been watching the Ado Den Haag defender on numerous occasions this season and are in talks to bring Aberkane to Anfield. It is being reported that Liverpool are interested in bringing the Netherland’s U16 star to the club, following the likes of past graduates Nathan Ake and Tim Krul.
Aberkane is predominantly a central defender, but the versatile youngster can also fill in at full-back if required, like Liverpool U21 defenders Corey Whelan and Joe Maguire.
Aberkane is the latest youngster to be linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer, with Sergio Gomez, Ethan Ampadu and Ibrahima Sissoko all attracting interest.
Klopp has shown that he is willing to give the youngsters a chance, with 15 players from Michael Beale’s U21s making the step-up to the first team in recent seasons.
Should Liverpool land the starlet, he will be the second defender to come into the club in two seasons, with former Arsenal defender Mich’el Parker making the step up to the Reds’ U18 side at the start of the current 2015/16 campaign.
